Avinash K Malhotra, AIA
Avinash K. Malhotra has been the firm’s principal since its inception in 1978. Prior to his own practice, Mr. Malhotra obtained extensive experience in the design and execution of major projects with leading firms in New York City. He is responsible for numerous major private and public projects in New York. He is familiar with codes and procedures of state and local public agencies, and NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, NYC City Planning Commission and Local NYC Community Boards.
Mr. Malhotra is a registered architect in the States of New York and New Jersey, and holds a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards certificate. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Indian Institute of Architects.
He holds a M.S. Arch. from Columbia University, New York City and a B.S. Arch. from the University of New Delhi, India.
Richard P. Saunderson, AIA, LEED-AP
Richard Saunderson has been with the firm of Avinash K. Malhotra Architects since 1981, and has been a project manager and architect on major projects including new buildings, adaptive reuse and conversions, historic and landmark structures, and interior architectural projects. These span the multifamily residential, commercial, educational and public sectors. Recent projects include 2 Gold Street, a 51-story residential tower. Born and raised in New York City, he has a particular interest in the physical history and preservation of the city.
Mr. Saunderson is licensed and registered in the States of New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, and holds an NCARB Certificate. He is a LEED-Accredited Professional.
He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science degrees from The City College School of Architecture, City University of New York, and graduated from New York City’s Peter Stuyvesant High School.
He was appointed to and served from 1995 through 2001 on the Affordable Housing Committee for the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
