While AKM (Avinash K. Malhotra) Architects is best known for multifamily high-rise new developments and for conversion of historic buildings in Manhattan, we do projects in other settings as well. Currently under construction—and just recently topped-off—is a 94-unit six story building in the suburban village of Great Neck Plaza.

This project involved the reuse of a challenging site with existing special permits. Our redesigned concept improved upon the existing building and site plans

, and provided more elegant, integrated solutions for the on-site parking and management of the site’s storm water. A contemporary, energy-efficent window wall facade will provide for light-filled units. The owner maintained in the program the requirement for 19 workforce apartments in accordance with the local municipality.
